Bio
The St. Louis Jesuits wrote many classic songs known and loved the world over as staples in Catholic worship, including “Sing a New Song” and “One Bread, One Body.” Active during the 1970s, the group was made up of young Jesuit seminarians at St. Louis University: Bob Dufford, John Foley, Tim Manion, Roc O’Connor and Dan Schutte. Known for their guitar-based folk melodies, the group received Grammy nominations in 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1981. After releasing many best-selling collections as a group, the five began to work independently, with several releasing solo albums. In August 2021, the five St. Louis Jesuits received honorary doctorates of music from their alma mater St. Louis University for the hope and worship their music has inspired throughout the world since the 1970s.
